Catch a Falling Star

Laying on my back at night
I've tried to count the stars
and pick apart that veil of light
to find what we made ours.

I'd take the silver moonbeams down
and tie them in my hair
so heaven's light would be the crown
of our glittering affair.

Upon my collar I would place
a strand of starry pearls
for every kiss upon my face
that made my dreams unfurl.

I'd pick a corner of the sky
and wrap it close around
so I'd always remember why
the love we have was found.

When the sky is stripped above
the blanket covering me
will beam the splendor of our love
for all eternity.
